چکیده

Aim: The aim of this study was to assess bone healing in large bony defect after enucleation of large jaw cyst without using graft material. Materials and Methods: Twenty patients with large jaw cysts (average size: 6x3 cm) were treated by enucleation. Postoperative clinical examination and digital Orthopan tomogram were performed for all cases at one day, then at 6, 12, 24 months postoperatively. The rate of bone healing in the large bony defects was measured using Direct Digital radiography for densiometric analysis of bone density during follow up period. results: Healing and spontaneous filling of the bony cavities were obtained in all cases. Computer analysis of the postoperative radiographs showed reduction in size of the residual cavities and gradual increase in bone density in all bony defects all over the follow-up period in all cases. The percentage of change in bone density in mandibular bony defect was72.2% while for the maxillary bony defects, it reaches to 79.9% at 24 months postoperatively. conclusion: Spontaneous bone regeneration could be obtained after enucleation of large jaw cysts without use of bone grafts.

Bilateral Temperomandibular Joint Ankylosis With A Rare Radiographic And Clinical Presentation

Temperomandibular joint ankylosis is a relatively common anomaly affecting the face causing facial asymmetry which necessitates multiple surgeries to restore function and form to near normal. The most important diagnostic aid in T.M.J ankylosis is radiography ranging from conventional radiography to C.T scans. This is a case report of an unusual radiographic presentation of bilateral T.M.J anky...

Electrical Stimulation And Wound Healing References

Evidence is reviewed (8 studies involving 215 clinical patients with ischemic skin ulcers and 7 animal tissue or tissue culture studies) that electrical stimulation of fibroblast cells accelerates the intracellular biosynthesis necessary to form new granulation tissue in a healing wound, and that both a direct local tissue effect and a circulatory improvement occur. A model is presented in whic...

Mass lesion detection with a fuzzy neural network

This paper presents a novel fuzzy neural network (FNN) approach to detect malignant mass lesions on mammograms. The FNN is a self-adjusting and adaptive system. It is simple in structure and easy to incorporate experts' knowledge and fuzzified factors in the detection of malignant mass lesions on mammograms. The FNN has four layers. The first layer is the input layer consisting of 4 fuzzy neuro...
